Last night I watched the great BBC documentary on Tom Simpson – The Story of Tom Simpson. He was truly a talented, unique and genial cyclists of all time until his untimely death on Mont Ventoux during the 1967 Tour de France as a result of amphetamines, heat, alcohol, a stomach complaint and exhaustion.
He wore a cap well.
Wax on, wax off….

To wax or not? Outlier’s new range of caps are designed to fit you like a second skin… for US$60 I hope I come with moisturiser! If it’s what they’re wearing in NYC they must ‘da bomb!’
A great cap will fit you like a second skin, it doesn’t just protect your head and keep you warm, it becomes a part of you. It’s there every day, every ride, ready for the rain, the sun, and wind. When we set out making our waxed cotton cap, we wanted to make something that would last for years on end. Not just another flimsy cycling cap…a premium garment that is wind proof, water resistant and ready for those crisp morning rides season after season.Waxed cotton caps are available at a special price of $50, regularly $60.
