So young and wears the cap so well. Faema were an Italian coffee machine company and Merckx joined the cycling team in 1968.

This is Mark Matthew in the middle with Team V Australia cap, Derek with Colnago and Jim with his Solo. I am quite partial to the red stripe. These guys were riding the 100 Miles of Nowhere charity ride in the Adelaide CBD.

Dapper Capper – Henri Pélissier

Henri Pélissier was the winner of the 1923 Tour de France. This picture is from the late 1920 and the cycle cap is begging to take shape – small peak and five panels.

I am going to start a blog just on the history of cycling caps. I can’t find anything solid about them. Why are they the way they are?
When did they first appear in their current form. These are questions I need to find answers.
